Thicket is 3 block linoleum cut print. In the images you can see how I built up the layers one at a time. Each color is carved by hand as it's own separate block and inked a different color. There is also a transparent flat gradient layer to give it a more foggy effect.

The print is based on a day in Tennessee where the fog was so bad I had to get off the freeway and wait it out. I found myself in a tiny little town with some intense atmosphere.

With this print I wanted to base my carving on a sketch to see if I could capture the loose gesture of a drawing into a carved mark.

The paper I use is my favorite Japanese Kitakata.
